“Country Band Available for your Fair, Festival or Special Event, Contact us for booking Info”
(See if we are available for hire in your state’s county at the bottom of this page)
The band plays the first Saturday of every month at the Pine Grove Fire Hall in Venus, PA. We will be having a dance at the Natrona Heights VFW June 18th from 7-10:30. This will be the last dance for the summer. (We are hoping to continue with the Natrona VFW for the Butler-Natrona dances on Sundays. Check back in late summer for confirmation.)
We focus on older style traditional country music but throw in a mix of oldies rock, 50’s, blues, and even an occasional classic rock tune. The dance floors at both venues are large with enough room for everyone, including line dancers.
Venango Dance: Cost is $7/person. BYOB. The kitchen is open serving burgers, hot dogs, FF’s & other snacks. Coffee & soda also available. Doors open at 6:15. The dance is from 7-10:30.
Butler Dance: Cost is $5/person. (Not a BYOB) Cooper Station offers a limited menu with sandwiches and snacks available, along with a fully stocked bar and friendly waitstaff.

A Little History
The Fertigs Crossroads Band was formed in 2010. The name came from the village of Fertigs, PA, from where Sawyer Stepp, co-founder of the band, makes his home. His house happens to be right at the crossroads of “town”.
I taught Sawyer quite a bit of guitar playing technique and he soon became very proficient. It was time for him to move onward, out of the living room and onto a stage with a full band and live audience. We decided to form a band with a single goal in mind, to play the Old Home Day Community Festival right down the road.
We’ve played there ever since, including their 50th anniversary, and look forward to many more appearances over the years. The celebration is always on Labor Day and a lot of fun.
In early 2012, we decided to start our own dance. We would play the old style country, the “real” stuff, along with some 50’s rock n roll, blues and even a little bit of classic rock.
Most important, we wanted to attract dancers. Couples who appreciated waltz’s, cha-cha’s, jitterbuggin’ and genuine dancing of that sort. We also wanted some “shake your thing” rock n roll! Most important to us was we wanted the dance floor occupied all the time!
We also desired a clean environment, non smoking, with an inviting decor, possibly a theme for each dance. (We’ve accomplished that with the help of Sawyers Mom, Dawn, who does almost all of the decorating for each dance.) While we knew we’d be catering to an older crowd, we also wanted younger people to feel welcome. We are still surprised to see how many younger folks come out! Those that do seem to have a good time learning to dance, especially the line-dancing that many of the attendees like to do.
We’ve been through more than a few personnel changes over the years, with the exception of Ray and Sawyer, but as long as there are people coming out each month, we’ll keep it rolling along for you! We recently started having a featured guest singer about every other month and it’s been real fun! We have a newsletter that you can sign up for at the dance. (It’s a regular “hold in your hands” newsletter that comes in the mail!) Thanks for your support and interest in The Fertigs Crossroads Band. When you support our dances, you help support your local fire hall & spread the joy of live music!
